Chris Billam-Smith will face Ryan Rozicki on June 6 at the Bournemouth International Centre, headlining Zuffa Boxing 07, the promotions first UK event.

The 10-round cruiserweight contest brings together two division highest rated fighters and marks the promotional debut of both men under their new multi-fight agreements with Zuffa Boxing, signed earlier this month. The event also signals Zuffa’s growing investment in the division, with Jai Opetaia, Brandon Glanton, Billam-Smith and Rozicki all now aligned with the organisation.

Billam-Smith returns to a venue that has become a consistent base during his rise. He has previously fought at the Bournemouth International Centre three times, recording wins over Isaac Chamberlain, Armend Xhoxhaj and Mateusz Masternak. His connection to his hometown also includes his world title victory over Lawrence Okolie at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium in May 2023.

He made two defences of his WBO title before being beaten by Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez in November 2024, in their cruiserweight unification fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He enters this fight following a unanimous decision bounce-back win over Brandon Glanton in London in April 2025.

Rozicki, meanwhile, arrives after ending an injury lay-off with a second-round stoppage of Gerardo Mellado in Canada last month. Known for his high knockout ratio, he has built a reputation as a pressure fighter, with 20 stoppages in 21 wins, and has acknowledged the challenge ahead while positioning the bout as a stylistic clash.

Ryan Rozicki’s only professional defeat was against Oscar Rivas in 2021in the inaugural WBC bridgerweight championship fight. Since that loss, he has remained unbeaten in nine fights, securing seven stoppages and a draw against Yamir Alberto Peralta in their 2024 rematch.

Both fighters framed the contest as aligned with Zuffa’s approach to matchmaking. Billam-Smith said he expects a “proper fight” in front of his home supporters, while Rozicki, who actively pursued a difficult opponent upon signing, promised fans a “real fight” and stated that Billam-Smith has not faced someone like him.

The matchup also sits within a broader cruiserweight landscape being shaped by Zuffa’s recent signings. Billam-Smith has openly targeted a future fight with Jai Opetaia, who holds the organisation’s inaugural Ring cruiserweight belt after also defeating Glanton in March. Trainer Shane McGuigan has indicated that the opportunity to pursue that fight played a role in Billam-Smith’s decision to join the promotion, citing his preference for facing punchers and proving himself against leading contenders.

With Rozicki positioned as a high-risk opponent and both fighters ranked among the division’s top names, the June 6 main event represents both a launch point for Zuffa Boxing in the UK and a potential eliminator-type step toward future title opportunities.

The immediate focus remains on Bournemouth, but the outcome will shape Zuffa’s early direction in the cruiserweight division, with the victor likely having a shot at Opetaia as the prize.
