Amanda Serrano to chase women’s knockout record against Lucrecia Manzur on TikTok card
Amanda Serrano will attempt to break Christy Martin’s women’s boxing knockout record when she defends her unified featherweight titles against Lucrecia Manzur on August 21 at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California.
Most Valuable Promotions announced that Serrano-Manzur will headline a championship event to be streamed on TikTok LIVE, with Serrano’s WBA and WBO belts at stake over 12 two-minute rounds.
Serrano, 49-4-1 (32 KOs), tied Martin’s mark of 32 stoppages in May, when she halted Cheyenne Hanson in the second round in El Paso, Texas. The Puerto Rican southpaw, a seven-division champion who also holds The Ring featherweight title, has said 2026 is likely to be her final year in boxing. Her immediate target is to move past Martin before she leaves the sport.
The timing gives the bout significance beyond the title defence. MVP has positioned the show as the first championship boxing event on TikTok LIVE, while Serrano-Manzur is also being presented as the first unified women’s world title fight scheduled for 12 two-minute rounds. Serrano previously fought Danila Ramos over 12 three-minute rounds in 2023, winning a unanimous decision in a unified championship bout.
“I’ve dedicated my career to creating opportunities for women’s boxing and bringing our sport to the biggest stages possible, so to headline the first-ever championship boxing event on TikTok is incredibly meaningful,” said Serrano in a statement. “Women’s boxing deserves to be seen by as many people around the world as possible, and this partnership gives us the chance to introduce our sport to a massive global audience in a completely new way…on Friday, August 21, I have the opportunity to make history for my island, break the all-time women’s knockout record, and defend my world titles. This will be a night to remember for Temecula and boxing fans around the world.”
Manzur gets first world-title chance
Manzur, 14-4 (7 KOs), is ranked No. 2 by the WBO and will fight outside Argentina for the first time as a professional. The 27-year-old has won five straight since a difficult 2023 run that included a third-round stoppage defeat to Daniela Romina Bermudez.
“I’ve been asking for this opportunity for a very long time. Ever since I started boxing, I’ve dreamed of fighting for a world title, and now I have the chance to do it against one of the sport’s true icons and someone I’ve always admired — Amanda Serrano,” Manzur said in a statement. “I have tremendous respect for everything Amanda has accomplished and for the legacy she has built. But once we step into the ring, my focus is on winning. I’m confident in my preparation, my abilities, and the work we’ve put in together. In one month, I believe Tucumán and all of Argentina will be celebrating a new world champion.”
Serrano’s pursuit of the record comes after a long stretch in which stoppages have been less frequent. Since March 2019, her only stoppage wins have come against Stevie Morgan in July 2024 and Hanson in May, but the Hanson result put her level with Martin and brought the record within one victory inside the distance.
Her wider profile has continued to grow alongside that chase. Serrano was named to the inaugural TIME100 Sports list on June 9, recognising 100 influential figures in global sport, and her recent run has included the high-visibility rematch with Katie Taylor in November 2024 on the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson Netflix card. ESPN reported that Serrano had sought to stage her final fight in Puerto Rico or New York, but she is now taking another date with historic implications before any farewell is finalised.
MVP uses TikTok platform
“From day one, MVP has challenged the traditional boxing model by creating the biggest moments and opportunities for fighters while finding new ways to bring the sport to fans around the world,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “Partnering with TikTok to deliver the first-ever championship boxing event on TikTok LIVE is another example of that vision to grow the audience for boxing and make world championship fights more accessible than ever. This event will also further activate MVP’s loyal fanbase among hard-to-reach Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences, demographics that MVP has consistently reached better than anyone else in the sport.
“This would not be possible without the MAFFE, the MOST ACCOMPLISHED FEMALE FIGHTER EVER, Amanda Serrano. The most watched, the most paid, the most titles, and maybe on Friday, August 21, from The Pechanga Resort in Temecula, California, live on Tik Tok globally, the most knockouts ever — The MAFFE, Amanda Serrano.”
The undercard announced by MVP includes 2024 U.S. Olympian Jahmal Harvey against Hammet Keb, Iyana “Roxy” Verduzco against Miguelina Hernandez, Nelvie Tiafack against Salvador Zavala and Jocelyn Camarillo against Ashley Felix. Brazil’s Jully Poca is also listed for the card.
Serrano now moves into camp with two objectives attached to the same night. Defend her featherweight titles and secure the stoppage that would put her alone at the top of the women’s knockout list. For Manzur, the next month brings her first fight on US soil and a first attempt at a world championship against one of the most established names in women’s boxing.
