Navarrete-Foster Undercard Adds Navarro, Frank Martin and ‘Chop Chop’ Gonzalez

Steven Navarro will renew his amateur rivalry with Emanuel Moreno on the October 24 card topped by Emanuel Navarrete’s three-belt super-featherweight unification fight against O’Shaquie Foster at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

Navarro-Moreno, a 10-round fight for the vacant NABO bantamweight title, has been added to the DAZN broadcast alongside Frank Martin’s super-lightweight contest with Tarik Zaina. Unbeaten featherweight Albert “Chop Chop” Gonzalez will face former world-title challenger Edward Vazquez in the co-feature.

Navarro defeated Moreno by split decision in the semi-finals of the 2020 USA Youth National Championships. Their amateur bout was staged in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 2, 2021.

The 22-year-old Navarro, from Inglewood, California, will enter his first scheduled 10-round fight with a record of 9-1, including six knockouts. He won his first seven professional bouts before suffering a technical-decision defeat by Jesse Daniel Mendoza in November 2025, when an accidental clash of heads opened a cut over Mendoza’s right eye and ended the fight at the start of the fourth round.

Navarro has since responded with a unanimous decision over Mario Hernandez in February and a fifth-round stoppage of Delvin McKinley in August.

“Texas! I’m thrilled to fight there and thankful to Top Rank and DAZN for the opportunity to fight on the main card,” Navarro said. “It’s also my first ten-round bout, and I fully intend to give the fans an exciting show and a statement win.”

Moreno, also 22, will fight in his home state. The Wichita Falls bantamweight is 13-0 with three stoppages and was a multiple-time national amateur champion before turning professional in November 2022. His unbeaten run includes decision victories over Khalid Twaiti, Edwin Tercero and Francisco Pedroza Portillo.

“I’ve known him since the amateurs and we actually fought once in the amateurs, but professional boxing is a completely different story, and I’m going to show it,” Moreno said. “I’m not coming to be another opponent. I’ve worked too hard and sacrificed too much for this moment. On October 24, I’m coming to make a statement and show everyone the level I’m on compared to these other fighters.”

Martin continues at super-lightweight

Martin will meet Morocco’s Zaina over 10 rounds as he continues his campaign at 140lbs. The Detroit fighter, who is now trained by Buddy McGirt, has a record of 19-1-1 with 13 knockouts. Zaina is 18-3-1 with 12 stoppages and is coming off an eight-round decision over Alexis Nahuel Torres in July.

After beating Romero Duno and the previously unbeaten Michel Rivera in 2022, Martin defeated Artem Harutyunyan in a WBC lightweight eliminator. He was then stopped by Gervonta “Tank” Davis in the eighth round of their WBA title fight in June 2024.

Martin subsequently moved to super-lightweight, knocking out former world champion Rances Barthelemy in the fourth round last December before fighting Nahir Albright to a 10-round draw at T-Mobile Arena in February.

The Zaina fight will be Martin’s first since his amicable split from Derrick James and move to McGirt. Martin said James believed his work with other coaches in Miami had created a conflict. He has spoken of challenging for another world title by 2027 and identified Lindolfo Delgado as an opponent he would like to face if the opportunity arises.

Gonzalez meets Vazquez in co-feature

Gonzalez, 24, is unbeaten in 18 professional fights, with 11 victories inside the distance. He has stopped his past two opponents, dismissing Brandon Chambers in the opening round in March before knocking out Aaron Alameda in the second round in July.

Ranked by the WBC, WBO and IBF, as well as The Ring, Gonzalez has publicly targeted featherweight champions Bruce Carrington, Rafael Espinoza, Brandon Figueroa and Angelo Leo. Vazquez, from Fort Worth, has twice challenged for a world title and offers Gonzalez an experienced test as he attempts to move closer to a championship fight.

Navarrete-Foster, Gonzalez-Vazquez, Martin-Zaina and Navarro-Moreno will stream on DAZN from 8pm ET and 5pm PT. Navarrete holds the WBO and IBF super-featherweight titles, while Foster will bring the WBC belt into their unification fight.

The preliminary stream will include unbeaten lightweight Deric “Scooter” Davis against Joaquin Silva Faccio over eight rounds. Sammy Contreras is scheduled for a six-round lightweight fight against an opponent yet to be named, Daniel Cortez III will meet Oziel Rangel Aradillas over six rounds at super-bantamweight, and Joseph Almajdi is due to appear in a six-round super-welterweight contest.
