Conah Walker-Alexis Rocha terms agreed for December 5
Conah Walker and Alexis Rocha have agreed terms to fight on December 5, promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed, with the welterweight contest expected to take place in Walker’s home city of Wolverhampton.
The fight could be given WBA eliminator status, although the sanctioning body has yet to confirm its designation.
“We have agreed terms to fight Alexis Rocha, and that will be December 5th,” Hearn said at the post-fight press conference for Ben Whittaker’s victory over Ezra Arenyeka Wallace. “We'll wait for an official announcement and what capacity that fight will be in, but I think it's an absolute bloodbath.”
Walker, 18-3-1 (9 KOs), will enter the contest on a five-fight winning run since his competitive points defeat by Lewis Crocker in June 2024. He responded by outpointing Lewis Ritson before stopping Harry Scarff and Liam Taylor, then halted unbeaten Olympic silver medallist Pat McCormack in the final round of their December 2025 meeting.
The 30-year-old last fought in May, stepping above the welterweight limit to face Sam Eggington at a 153lb catchweight in a Midlands contest. After being tested in the early rounds, Walker dropped Eggington with a body shot in the eighth and forced the stoppage in the 10th.
Walker has since targeted a return to 147lbs and relinquished his British titles while pursuing either a world-title fight or an eliminator. A proposed bout with former champion Brian Norman Jnr did not materialise, with Norman’s manager, Adrian Clark, later claiming his side had “sent over the contract we negotiated then said, nah.” Walker and Matchroom have not publicly explained why the contest fell through.
Rocha, 27-2-1 (16 KOs), has rebuilt his career since suffering a sixth-round stoppage defeat by Giovani Santillan in October 2023. The Californian has since recorded four victories and a draw, including wins over Fredrick Lawson and the previously unbeaten Santiago Dominguez, as well as a 12-round majority draw with Raul Curiel.
A scheduled rematch with Curiel was cancelled in January after Rocha experienced problems during his weight cut and was admitted to hospital shortly before the weigh-in. He returned by outpointing former world champion Joseph Diaz in March and most recently earned a unanimous decision over José Ramírez, the former unified junior-welterweight champion, on the Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn undercard last month.
Walker is ranked No. 3 by the WBA, but the organisation has not announced whether the Rocha fight will determine a future mandatory challenger. Its welterweight title picture currently includes Super champion Teofimo Lopez and secondary title-holder Jack Catterall, who have been ordered to meet in a mandatory consolidation fight.
An official announcement is still required to confirm the venue, undercard and WBA status of Walker-Rocha.
