How often is the boxing schedule updated?
As boxing doesn’t have a regular governing body or organised structure, new fights for the schedule get announced all the time. Due to the tough nature of the sport, a lot of bouts also get rescheduled or cancelled due to injury to one fighter. The boxing calendar is ever shifting.
Box.Live attempts to keep the most up to date schedule available, constantly monitoring every card and promoter for news about new contests. Often, we’ll update the schedule several times a day.
When are boxing fixtures released?
New fights typically get added to the schedule 6-8 weeks before they are due to happen. However, it might be public knowledge that a bout is in progress long before an official announcement is made. We tend to wait until such announcements from promoters and broadcasters before adding new contests to the schedule. However, we might make exceptions when it’s common knowledge that a fight is taking place, or may have been made public by the local commission of the fight.
Less important fights on the card are often announced closer to the date of the event. Keep-busy bouts, comeback fights, and bouts for building a prospect's experience are often not confirmed until the week of the event.
It’s not uncommon for opponents to change at the last minute due to missing weight, injuries, travel issues, or even contractual disputes!
